Quick Start

Welcome to Rover! Get started in 5 simple steps.

What is Rover?

Rover is a desktop proxy client based on the sing-box core, offering:

  • Intuitive GUI — no need to write config files by hand
  • Multi-dimensional routing policies (domain / IP / process / rule sets)
  • DNS policy leak prevention
  • TUN mode for global proxy
  • Built-in rule sets and preset templates

Five Steps to Get Started

  1. Add a Profile — Go to the "Profiles" page, paste your subscription link, and click Add Remote. Rover will download and parse it automatically.
  2. Start the Core — On the "Dashboard", click Start Core to launch sing-box.
  3. Enable System Proxy — Toggle System Proxy on the Dashboard. HTTP/HTTPS traffic will be forwarded through Rover.
  4. Select a Node — Go to the "Proxies" page and choose a node with low latency.
  5. Verify — Check the network detection card on the Dashboard for your exit IP to confirm the proxy is working.

Global Proxy

If you need non-proxy-aware apps (games, CLI tools, etc.) to go through the proxy, enable TUN Mode on the Dashboard. A UAC prompt will appear on first enable to install the system service — click "Yes".

Using Preset Templates

If you don't want to configure routing rules manually, go to the "Policies" page and click Import, then select a preset template:

Template Description Best for
Proxy Foreign + Direct Rest Only GFW-listed sites go through proxy; everything else is direct Occasional access to foreign sites
Direct Domestic + Proxy Rest Only domestic traffic is direct; everything else goes through proxy Full proxy coverage
Balanced Routing Auto-detects domestic vs. foreign traffic, balancing speed and privacy Recommended for daily use
